So many words can describe why we've stopped updating this blog.
Wes, well, he doesn't update anything (Facebook, Blog, MySpace, Twitter, etc. etc.) and I've given up and have resorted to 140 words or less.
Twitter. So much easier.

One year ago today
At exactly this time last year I was interviewing for a job, over the phone, in the UAE. After being offered the job on Thanksgiving I was unable to eat my yummy dinner because I was so distracted/freaked out by what to do.
I think it's safe to say I made the right decision.
No pushing food around my plate this year.

A Google Video Chat first
Last night Wes and I had our first Google Video Chat encounter!
It's still blows my mind that it "works" and that from the Middle East to Washington state we can see and hear somebody for free.
Krissy, my derby sister and teammate, was brave enough to heed my call to get a Gmail account, download the application and chat us. Again, all for free.
So this brings me to trying to guilt trip the rest of you into doing the same. If you don't know what I'm talking about go HERE and follow the instructions.
Google Video Chatting will keep us sane.

8 hours and counting...
We're about 8 hours until we arrive at the Abu Dhabi airport for liftoff.
Before reaching Detroit we'll have a 2 hour layover in Amsterdam. The whole trip is supposed to take about 18 hours. Sounds fun, right?
Anyway, stay tuned for blog updates. We're traveling with laptop!

Look how happy the Gazelle is!
It is running away from the boring desert cause it really wants to hang out in the giant city of gold. Maybe if our Super Happy Gazelle makes it, he will soon have horns covered in gold leaf.
Thats how they do it in Abu Dhabi!

What's in this name?
Wes and I had a hard time coming up with a name for our blog (God, do we hate that word). We tossed around a few ideas but us agreeing on something is generally rare.
Wes vetoed "Abu Dhabi Doing It". Looking back on that I now realize how lame it was.
Although, I can't take all the credit for it.
Before I left Washington my co-workers gave me my "Top 10 List" on the reasons why I was leaving... "Abu Dhabi Do" (or something like that) was the headline.
Wes later came up with something about "crazy-fun-super-happy" but I thought it was too long.
We settled on the play on a horrible translation (even though it seems kinda Japanese) mixed with the meaning of Abu Dhabi (Father of the Gazelle).
